The horrific incident occurred last Thursday when the young man, whose name has not been disclosed, attempted to execute a "prank" by swallowing his meal whole without chewing, accompanied by his friends in the town of Koropi.

He was immediately taken to G. Gennimatas Hospital, where he is now on life support and fighting for survival after the incident caused severe damage to his vital organs, including his brain and kidneys, according to the "Daily Mail."

In a chilling testimony, a friend who was present recounted the details of the critical moments. He explained to local media that his friend began to panic immediately after swallowing the burger before collapsing on the ground.

He said, "He experienced what seemed like a panic attack. He got up and ran a little way off, thinking he would spit it out because he didn’t want to make a mess in front of others... then he started to come back, and the moment we realized something was wrong was when he began hitting his back against a pole, perhaps trying to spit it out or something like that."

The friend denied that the incident was part of a "dangerous challenge," asserting that it was merely a "prank" initiated by the young man with the words "look." It is believed that the young man stopped breathing for a full two minutes, a duration sufficient to cause irreversible brain damage due to lack of oxygen.

The president of the General Federation of Greek Hospital Workers, Michalis Giannakos, described the young man's condition as "very critical" and stated that he could only be saved "by a miracle." Giannakos expressed astonishment at the ability to swallow a whole meal without chewing, emphasizing that rapid medical intervention was essential.

For her part, the former president of the Athens-Piraeus Hospital Doctors Association, Matina Pagoni, expressed her deep sorrow over the tragic circumstances: "These are tragic circumstances. A 22-year-old went to Koropi just to enjoy himself, and now he is living on a breathing tube and in a very critical condition, with serious problems affecting his brain, kidneys, and all his organs."

The local police spokesperson, Konstantina Dimoglido, confirmed that authorities have begun an investigation into the incident and will seek to obtain recordings from the restaurant to determine whether anyone encouraged or incited him to carry out this "prank" that nearly cost him his life.
