وجاءت الفقرة الإشكالية ضمن مقال حمل عنوان «مبيعات السيارات تنتعش في أكتوبر»، إذ ظهر سطر غريب تضمّن استفساراً مباشراً من روبوت الدردشة شات جي بي تي لصاحبة المادة عن مدى رغبتها بإنشاء نسخة «أكثر جاذبية» مع «إحصاءات قوية» وتصميم جاهز للرسوم البيانية، قبل أن يختتم العبارة بسؤال صريح عما إذا كانت ترغب بتنفيذ ذلك.

وأثار هذا الخطأ موجة واسعة من السخرية على منصات التواصل، بعدما انتشرت صورة للفقرة المطبوعة بتاريخ 12 نوفمبر 2025، ما فتح باب نقاش حاد حول حدود استخدام الذكاء الاصطناعي في الصحافة المهنية.

وسارعت الصحيفة إلى تعديل النسخة الرقمية للمقال، وحذفت السطر المثير، مؤكدة أنها فتحت تحقيقاً داخلياً في الحادثة. وأوضحت في بيان رسمي أن سياستها التحريرية تحظر استخدام أدوات الذكاء الاصطناعي في توليد الأخبار، وأن ما حدث لا يتجاوز «سهواً تحريرياً» تم التعامل معه فوراً.

The English-language Dawn newspaper in Pakistan found itself at the center of an embarrassing incident after discovering a serious editorial error that made its way into the printed version due to the use of a language model based on artificial intelligence in writing material published in the business section.

The problematic paragraph appeared in an article titled "Car Sales Surge in October," where a strange line included a direct inquiry from the ChatGPT chatbot to the author about her willingness to create a "more engaging" version with "strong statistics" and a ready-made design for charts, before concluding the statement with a direct question about whether she would like to implement that.

This error sparked a wide wave of ridicule on social media after a picture of the printed paragraph dated November 12, 2025, circulated, opening the door to a heated debate about the limits of using artificial intelligence in professional journalism.

The newspaper quickly amended the digital version of the article, removing the controversial line, and confirmed that it had launched an internal investigation into the incident. It clarified in an official statement that its editorial policy prohibits the use of artificial intelligence tools in generating news, and that what happened was nothing more than a "editorial oversight" that was addressed immediately.
